There are some days that remind you exactly why you love making music—and March 30th was one of those days.
Our choirs came together for a truly special “Big Sing,” uniting voices, energy, and passion in one unforgettable experience. Singers came from Roundhay, Crossgates, Horsforth, Otley and Ilkley—along with some members of Leeds Arts Choir—bringing together a vibrant mix of people, personalities, and voices, of all ages, all ready to create something powerful together. From the very first note, the atmosphere was electric.
We worked on two stunning songs: Wild Horses (made famous by Birdy) and Hold Back The River by James Bay. Both pieces gave us the chance to explore emotion, dynamics, and that incredible sense of connection that only comes from singing together as one.
The evening itself was full of focus, fun, and those magical musical moments where everything just clicks. There’s something incredibly special about hearing so many voices blend—moments where harmonies lift, lyrics land, and you can feel the music ripple through the room.
We were lucky to have the amazing Ash Scott Films capturing the songs, helping us turn those moments into something we can relive and share. Alongside this, Jonas worked his magic recording and mixing the sound, with fantastic support on the day from Billy—making sure everything sounded just as good as it felt.
Our conductors, Georgia, Kim, and Alison, led with energy, warmth, and a shared love of music that brought out the very best in everyone. We had the lovely Craig on photo duty who captured some really great shots, we hope you’ve been enjoying them! Shout out to Sophia as well for helping set the room and make sure everyone was happy.
Most of all, this evening was about community. About people coming together, supporting each other, and creating something bigger than any one voice alone. Whether you’ve been singing for years or just starting out, moments like this remind us that music is for everyone—and that together, we can create something truly special. We hope Birdy and James Bay enjoy what we created with their epic songs! Thank you everyone who took part and helped out moving chairs etc! We appreciate you all.
We can’t wait for you to see (and hear!) what we made. You can now watch the videos here:
